Following the president’s directive, the interim government officially announced this appointment on Wednesday, August 28, through a notification from the Solicitor’s Office of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs. The appointment is made under the authority granted by Article 3(1) of the Bangladesh Law Officers Order, 1972.
Advocate Rohani Siddika resides on Jailkhana Road in Lalmonirhat district. She is the daughter of the late Abdur Rahman and Roshan Ara and the eldest of three siblings. Her husband, Monirul Islam, is a banker, and they have three sons together.
Rohani Siddika completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in the Humanities group at Lalmonirhat Government Girls’ High School. She then earned her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Majida Khatun College. After that, she obtained her LLB (Honors) and LLM degrees in Law and Justice from Northern University Bangladesh in Dhaka.
While working with the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), she made significant contributions by providing legal assistance to women and advocating for their rights.
Her appointment as Assistant Attorney General has been met with widespread congratulations from individuals across various sectors of society.
When asked about her feelings regarding her appointment, Rohani Siddika expressed, “I am thrilled to be the first female lawyer from Lalmonirhat to serve in the Bangladesh Supreme Court and to be appointed as an Assistant Attorney General. I am incredibly grateful for the support and cooperation of my family, and I kindly ask for the prayers of all the people from my beloved Lalmonirhat district.”
